The spring bank holiday – the second, but still much appreciated long weekend of the month – is finally upon us!

On Monday May 31, many of us get the day off work, meaning we can sleep in, relax, go for a walk, pop for a bite to eat, socialise (as per restrictions) – or even get on top of our DIY and gardening projects.

Many of us have our fingers crossed that the weather will be good enough to get outdoors and light the barbecue, following an uncharacteristically wet and miserable May.

For many, that means a trip to B&Q, Wickes or Argos for essential homewares and gardening kit.

But are any of these three handy stores actually open on over the bank holiday?

Most B&Q stores will be open on May 31, with regular operating times of 8am until 6pm.

Though it does depend on what type of B&Q you live near – so make sure you check the store locator.

Some stores are open from 7am, closing at 8pm, while others open later and close at 9pm.

There are more than 280 B&Qs in the UK, and some warehouses are much larger than others, so naturally it varies.

Wickes stores are open as normal on Monday, and over the bank holiday weekend.

Generally, store opening times tend to vary between 9am, closing between 6pm and 8pm.

On Sundays, some Wickes stories typically operate with shorter hours – 10am to 4pm.

It’s best to check the Wickes store finder to find out your nearest shop’s exact opening times.

Is Argos open on bank holiday Monday?

Most Argos stores will be open – just running a reduced service on Monday, May 31.

Expect weekend opening times to be as normal, then a 10am to 5pm schedule on the bank holiday itself.

Argos usually opens for a shorter amount of time on bank holidays. You can check your nearest shop’s exact times using the Argos store locator.
